Edward's line can be traced back to Devault Beck who arrived with his wife
and children at the port of Philadelphia aboard the Phoenix, 28 Aug 1750.
Edward remained in the area of his birth until ca. 1868-69 when his parents moved
to Tennessee -- they stayed there long enough for his youngest sister to be born
in 1868-69 and then they moved to Texas Co., MO.
Edward met Sarah Francis Greenwood there and married her. They raised their family
on a farm just south of Cabool, and Edward's grandson, Ed Beck, still lives on
it. The original homestead papers on this property were signed by Ulysses S.
Grant.
Edward Rufus joined the Old Cedar Bluff Baptist Church in 1894 and later moved
his membership to the Cabool Baptist Church.
