[Notes from Steven W. Neighbors]
Clyde was a painter at the General Motors Leeds plant and was a member of the
United Auto Workers. He lived in KC, MO for 42 years before retiring and moving
to Sunrise Beach, MO at the Lake of the Ozarks in 1957. He buit a weekend "cabin"
on the lake front in Forsen Park on a lot next to his brother, Wm Hugh. Later,
he built a "home" on a double lot on the other side of Wm Hugh's property.
Clyde loved to play cards (canasta, samba, and pinochle). He was often found
at his brother's house playing cards with Wm Hugh and Estellene. Clyde had a
wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease and joke with his nieces and nephews.
An Army veteran of World War I, Clyde was a member of the Pete Dover Veterans
of Foreign Wars post. I once met a comrade of his who ran an ice house on 67th
street in KC, MO near Swope Park. When he learned my surname was Neighbors, he
asked if I was related to a Clyde Neighbors that used to live in the Marlborough
area. When I replied in the affirmative, he commented about Clyde's sense of
humor and told a wonderful story about Clyde riding a goat at the VFW hall.
Clyde and Mildred raised Boston Terriers and always had from 2 to 6 of them around
the house.
Clyde was a member of the Community Christian Church in Camdenton, MO.
