Died at the family residence in this city, April 19, 1906, W. T. Oxley, an old and respected citizen.

William T. Oxley was born in Franklin county, Virginia, July 10th, 1849? and was married August 6th, 1868 to Mary L. Neff, who still survives him. To this union were born two sons, J. W. Oxley who now resides at Stockton, Missouri, and W. A. Oxley now deceased.

The deceased came to Missouri in the fall of 1860 and had been a resident of this city for over twenty years. He was a quiet and unobtrusive citizen and his friends were numbered by the hundreds. He was a member of th I. O. O. F. Lodge of this city.

The funeral services were conducted from the family residence by the I. O. O. F. Rev. Dove delivered a short but impressive address at the home in the presence of a large congregation of sympathizing friends and relatives. The remains were laid to rest in the Cabool cemetery there to await the resurrection.

A Pioneer Citizen Passes Away

W. T. Oxley, one of the pioneer citizens of our town, died suddenly at 11 o'clock a.m. on Thursday, April 19, of heart failure. He has been ill all winter but on Wednesday he seemed to be some better.

While the end was not unexpected, it came as a shock to our people. Uncle Bill, as he was familiarly called had lived in this town since it was built and was a well known and respected citizen.

The family have the sincere sympathy of the community.

Cabool Pioneer Citizen

A few years ago Cabool's pioneer citizens were recognized and honored for their contributions to the development of Cabool. The Cabool History Society placed a flower and a small card designation Cabool Pioneer on the graves of 15 of them on Memorial Day, as a special token of remembrance.

William T. Oxley, 1841-1906, one of town's first trustees; helped in organizing Cabool village, 1884.
