They moved from there to Northern Ind. (Oct 22 18??) (Wabash Co. Ind. from other records) where my Bro Benjamin was born Jan. 29, 1866. From there they moved to Cabool Mo. When I was 3 or 4 we moved to Parsons Kansas, (1876-78) did not stay long for we were all sick with Ague fever so father traded for land in Neb. We lived in Stella Neb. for 16 yrs. and prospered there on a farm. (1881? to 1892)(see large picture of house) Here my younger Bro. John was born on Nov 20 1881. (Dad was 45, mother 37, Frank 15, Joe 11, Me 8)

After 4 yrs of farming we decided to move to Quinter Ks.1907 We lived on our farm north of Quinter with no improvements. I built a granary and barn and we lived in the granary until I could build a house. Here the girls had the measles. Before the house was finished a tornado moved it 9ft off the foundation. In 1909 Retta and son passed away at child birth (dad was 72, I was 35) (buried in Quinter cemetery with son in her arms).

Then we moved into Quinter with my parents. Soon I built a house next to them. My mother came to Chicago for an Operation and cancer was found (she was 68). she came home with her and she soon passed away (Aug 10 1917 she was 72+). Ellis was born in 1917 June 23 (24 on birth certificate) at Quinter.

Then we moved back to the farm. 1918 was a very bad winter so much snow and very cold. Gordon was born Dec 21, 1918 (I was 46 & Mary 35) No doctor for miles. 6 days later Mary passed away with Uremic poisoning. (Inez took Gordon to McPherson and stayed with Grandfather Ebbert, Dola took care of Esther and Ellis until the move).

In 1920 June 18 , I married Inez Ebbert a sister to Mary (I was 47 she was 33) That fall we were called by the trustee Board to take charge of the Home for the Aged at Darlow Kan. also to child rescue work. (Esther, Ellis, & Gordon) We stayed there for 5 1/2 yrs. then we resigned on the account of health. While at Darlow I was installed to the Eldership 1926.

Nina had pictures for me which I am enclosing. The one card was actually a photo of T P OXLEY posted from Quinter on June 1913. The address was of interest to us because it was only to:
Mr T B Oxley, Durban, Natal, Africa c/o Tramway

It reads:

Dear Cousin
Thought I would send you my photo. Ware are at home again after spending the school year at Chicago attending the Bethany Bible School. While at Denise (the writing wasn't too clear on that word) last summer I saw Lillian. If this reaches you I would like to hear from you. It seems strange to write to a cousin in Africa but trust that God using you to lift downtrodden humanity. T.P. Oxley
